JOHOR BARU, Jan 13 – The government should review existing laws under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 following the controversy surrounding the anti-graft body’s chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, says KEADILAN Youth chief, Akmal Nasir.

The Johor Baru MP is also calling on the government to add one more day to the Special Parliamentary Meeting to be held next Thursday (Jan 20).

“The special sitting is to discuss the floods that already occurred more than a month ago but we are hoping to include the question of integrity that has plagued the MACC, which is equally important.

“This matter needs a solution from both sides on the proper way of having a system of checks and balances on the MACC to save the institution,” he added after having his statement recorded by police at the Johor Baru South district headquarters here on Thursday (Jan 13).
